We sure had some great times back then ! Thanks to Bill Bass and Barry Fey who gave us such great gigs and management. Little did we know how great the Denver music scene was back then compared to now. We hope you enjoyed the “Good Ol’ Daze” as much as we did when we were gigging in front of great crowds at Bangles, The Broadway, and Alibi’s as well as all the Big Ones! (including Mile High Stadium). Special thanks to the Crew, Staff. and Management at the above mentioned clubs and venues! (you know who you are)
The Rage Lives On !!!
R.I.P. Paul Vee
Former ANGELLIC RAGE Singer Shot And Killed – July 9, 2008
Paul Stitt (a.k.a. Paul Vee), the former lead singer for the 1990s Denver, Colorado-based metal band ANGELLIC RAGE (MySpace page), was murdered in Las Vegas during a liquor store robbery Tuesday night (July 8), according to KLAS-TV. Now police are trying to find his killers by looking at surveillance video.
Edward Lawrence of KLAS-TV spoke to the victim’s relative, who said Stitt was an icon in the Denver music scene and that his murder at the liquor store is going to shake that town’s roots.
“I know we lost a good man for $9 bucks an hour. It’s just a sad day,” his relative said.
Stitt was following his dream to be a rock star. He lived with his stepbrother, who did not want to be identified because the murderers are still on the loose. He showed pictures of Stitt performing with ANGELLIC RAGE at Mile high Stadium in the ‘90s, opening for IRON MAIDEN.
“Never really got anything going here, but he just wanted to do something so he went down there and wanted to be around people,” he said.
He got a job as a clerk and made an impression on complete strangers, like Monaka Glover.
“Paul was a very nice guy. He was nice and kind to everybody all the time,” she said. “His life is gone for nothing. They came in, they shot, they didn’t — nothing. You know, just killed a nice guy, an innocent guy, for nothing.”
Metro Police say Stitt finished his cigarette last night and went back inside the store. Two men followed. Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts say the surveillance video shows one of the men drawing a gun. Police believe it may have gone off accidentally, shooting Stitt once in the head.
“There was a number of people that were outside the liquor store, outside and around the liquor store when this happened. We are hoping that we will get some information on the suspects,” said Roberts.
Glover wants the suspects to turn themselves in. So does Stitt’s family, who are now making funeral arrangements.
There were no other people inside the store. The eyewitnesses were outside when they heard the shot. Police say the robbers stole money off the victim and are both about 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 175 pounds. Both were wearing dark-colored baseball caps.
Paul Vee Memorial Show / Angellic Rage Reunion Info
Well folks, the planets have aligned in a strange way, so Angellic Rage will be getting back together for one last big show (minus our beloved Paul Vee)...
It’s such a shame that it took something like this to get us all back together with our friends and family but we will all have a great time honoring Paul Vee just the way he would want it done. If anything good can come out of this tragedy, it’s that we will all visit with old friends and faces to celebrate the life of Paul Vee.
Pete Snow from the band CORE www.coreband.com will be singing the vocals of Paul Vee, along with: Alex Vota (Guitars), Rick Trefry (Guitars), Kevin Martinez (Guitars), Jim Strickler (Bass), Miles Marlin (Bass), Mike Crisler (Drums), and Bobby Brott.(Drums)
We look forward to see all your smiling (sad) faces there !!
